Malibey Niche

Jessica walked over to Kerry's niche and smiled down at the boy. He exuded an air of cockiness Jessica appreciated. If anyone deserves to be cocky, it's a first year who rammed his broom into the head of a death eater...

"I do believe this will go well for you, Mr. Malibey," she said, patting his shoulder. She leaned in closer so only he would hear and whispered, "Keep your focus, Kerry."

Jessica lowered her hand and began moving on. "Please begin and I will be observing. Should you need anything, do not hesitate to ask."

Kerry nodded and got right to work. He knew it looked simple, but it was all about focus and will. And that's what he was going for.

He pulled the snail out from the group of animals and put it out where it was alone and ready to get phased. He smiled. Let's do this.

Kerry spun the tip of his wand in a tight clockwise motion and said, "Evanesco."





Snail-be-Gone!

And like that the snail vanished. Kerry smiled broadly. For some reason he knew he'd make the snail go away, but it felt almost too easy.

Don't get cocky, he though as he got his first mouse, pushing him (or her) to the side. The little guy looked a little out of it, and Kerry wouldn't think it out of the ordinary that Professor Mossman might have given all the animals some "trank spells" or something.

Kerry felt good. Once more, he spun the wand tip clockwise and said, "Evanesco."




Mouse-Vanishing-Part One:

The first mouse vanished as easily as the snail. Kerry thought, Two for two, and looked hard at the remaining mouse. "You wanna visit your buddy?" he asked, smiling.

Again the twirl and the now-simple incantation: "Evanesco."





Mousie-go-byebye!

This time the mouse didn't visit his buddy, and looked up at Kerry with a "Waddaya kiddin' me?" look on his face.

Kerry laughed, feeling how much fun it was to not only do magic, but do it well--even with a misfire or two, he thought.

He spun the wand tip . . . "Evanesco."

And Mouse Numba 2 went the way of his buddy. Just like Kerry wanted.

"Only thing left . . ." He reached for the first soft, cuddly kitty and gave it a nice ear scratch before setting it aside where he could work his magic and hot have it run off. He let the kitten bat at this wand tip a little before he grinned, spun the tip and said, "Evanesco."





Kitty Number One--Meow!!!

And Kitty #1 went bye bye, just like that.

Kerry couldn't believe he was doing this. He felt really good; so much better than the last class. There was just visualizing the spell, the wand motion, the incantation . . . It is its own science, he thought. Professor Kishna was so right. You have to feel this, not think it.

Kitty #2 was ready to go under the wand. He got the little fella in place, gave him a couple of scratches and a bit of play, then did a quick twirl and--"Evanesco."





Kitty #2--Has some Cheesburger!

Kitty #2 wasn't ready to go yet. The young cat looked at him and yawned, like he wants yarn or something.

Kerry rolled the kitty over and scratched it's belly, pulling his hand way before Kitty #2 could go into furry bear trap mode. And with that--

Kitty #2 was still here--and proving to be a little bit of a problem. Well, this could happen. Kerry wouldn't let it get him down. Not today. He felt too good . . ..

And Kitty #2 was gone, daddy, gone!

So that just left Kitty #3 and Kerry was so happy. He saw Annie was onto the kittens now, so she must have been burning through the spells as well. Well, time to put this little fella in the don't-see-me collection, he thought.

He gave the kitten a few scratches and some play, then calmed it best he could, twirled his wand and said, "Evanesco."

Kitty #3 was going to be like #2--hard to make go.

Kerry didn't mind. Again, it was fun, he was enjoying himself. And he knew that he'd made 5 vanish, so the 6th wouldn't be difficult.

He nuzzled the kitten, got a nice rub in return, then did his twirl and--"Evanesco."





Hello Kitty #5--6th time to make him disappear!

To say that Jessica was impressed would be putting it mildly. Kerry made her assignment look too simple. Most sixth years struggle with this spell, and making kittens vanish--they never get all three. I knew he would do nicely today.

She walked up behind him and patted his back. "Very well done, Mr. Malibey. Ten points for Cernunnos." She winked at Kerry and said, "Since all of your animals are gone, you may pack up and leave. Enjoy the rest or your day."

Kerry couldn't hid his pleasure at not only rocking the spell, but getting 10 coven points in the process. "Thank you, Professor," he said gathering his things and putting them in his backpack.

As he started for the door he caught Annie's eye and let her know he'd be right outside, then left the classroom to wait in the hall.
