Caldwell and Krum

Sidling up next to the brunette, Wednesday put her arm around her waist and looked at the blonde.

"Everything set here, ladies?" she asked.

Annie immediately liked the charms professor. "I think we are both good, Professor," she said, dreading the part that was coming up next. I knew this day was going to be horrible... Annie glanced over at Kerry and Raven, happily discussing their assignment in front of their blue door. She turned to her partner, determined to get through the class the best way she could.

"Would you like to lock first, or shall I?"

When her partner showed no preference, Annie shrugged and pointed her wand at the lock of their door. "Colloportus," she said flatly.

Annie looked over at her partner and stood back. "The door is locked, so I guess you're up." She glanced over to Kerry and noticed he was having a little difficulty with the unlocking spell. She watched him while he cast his spell, unable to look away.

Annie heard her partner whisper to her wand, begging the spell to work. She watched as she let the spell go and nothing happened.

"Try again," she said, pushing her to continue. "Maybe this time it'll work."

Ellen nodded. "Alohamora!" she commanded. She looked as the spell shot from her wand. Her face seemed unsure, unsure but hopeful. "Please work," she whispered to it.

I hate this spell. It better work this time. I guess locks hate me. Ha!

She smiled at the teacher. "May I try once more? I have to get it."

Annie stared at her partner. She had never seen anything quite like the girl...ever. Their lock was a smoking relic, barely recognizable in the door.

"Uhm...I really think you should stop," she said. "I don't think the door can handle anymore of your spells."

Annie turned around to look for the professor.

"But... Professor, may I stay after class to try to get it again?"

Show that Krum girl. Just because she could get it locked... doesn't mean she can open it.

Wednesday came over to inspect the damage to the door. She fired off a quick repairing spell and the lock was as good as new.

"It looks like you have been having a rough time with this second spell," she giggled. "Why not take a rest and let Annie have a turn?"

Wednesday set the lock, hearing the lock click as it engaged. "Your turn, Annie. Once you've finished, your partner can try unlocking and then locking once again.

"Good luck, girls," she said and left them to their work.

"Good luck, Annie," Ellen whispered.

Annie thanked the professor and looked at their gleaming new lock. To look at it, you'd never know it was just a smoking bit of twisted metal hanging out of a door. I hope I am as good at that one day, she thought, pointing her wand squarely at the lock.

"Alohamora."
